About Us
Welcome to the Official Website of Paws & Heroes Legacy Foundation, Inc.
Our Story
Paws and Heroes Legacy Foundation was born from a simple yet powerful realization: too many animals were falling through the cracks of an overwhelmed system, and too many of the people who serve our communities - veterans, first responders, and working families - were struggling to care for the pets they love.
Our founders witnessed firsthand the heartbreak of families forced to choose between their own needs and their pet's health. She saw community cats suffering without access to basic medical care, and rescue groups stretched beyond their limits. The breaking point came when a disabled veteran nearly lost his beloved companion - his only source of comfort after returning home - simply because he couldn't afford a routine procedure.
That moment sparked a commitment: no animal should suffer because of circumstances beyond their control, and no hero - whether in uniform or not - should have to say goodbye to a pet they love due to financial hardship.
What started as neighbors helping neighbors has grown into a foundation driven entirely by volunteers who share this belief. Every dollar donated goes directly to the animals. No fancy offices, no administrative overhead - just compassionate people doing whatever it takes to help.
We're not just another rescue. We're a bridge - connecting animals in crisis with the care they deserve, and connecting communities with the resources they need to keep families whole.
Our Mission
At Paws and Heroes Legacy Foundation, our mission is to provide shelter and support to homeless animals in our community.
We believe everyone deserves a safe and comfortable place to call home, and we work tirelessly to make that a reality for as many animals as possible.
We focus on the health needs of pets from low and middle-income families, homeless pets, and those belonging to veterans, police, fire, and rescue workers.
Paws and Heroes provides medical care to community cats, assists rescue groups, shelters, wildlife, and animals with urgent medical needs.
We also aim to support communities lacking veterinary care through local hospitals, rescue groups, training centers, and pet-focused organizations.
Our Programs
We offer a variety of programs to help our fellow animals get back on their feet. From food to shelter and medical care to rehabilitation, we provide the resources and support necessary to help the animals in our care feel safe and have a second chance at a safe and healthy life.
